I've been away for 6 days visiting my sister in Paris so I've been away from the computer for nearly a week!

Lets see. Checklist. This week I have:

Climbed (well, used lifts) to the top of the Eiffel tower,
Been astounded at the beauty of Notre Dame (although only from outside)
Stood at the exact centre of Paris
Seen the Arc de Triomphe
Walked down the Champs Elysses
Been around the Picasso Museum. I now 'get' his art better.
Looked at the Pompidou Centre and gone 'WTF?'
Had a picture done by a street artist
Walked a lot (my feet hate me)
Eaten fantastic food
Played with my tiny niece
Fallen in love with a city (something I thought would never happen to me)
Actually used my very rusty schoolgirl french and been understood :)


Now I know why Paris is the romantic capital of the world. Monday was our wedding anniversary. We visited the Marche aux Puces, walked past and decided not to try and get into the Louvre (huge queue, two small children. Bad combination) we had our dinner in a little restaurant called 'Le Petit Pont' which was at one end of le petit pont. We had outside seats with a view of Notre Dame. There were outside heaters and they had a jazz pianist. Later after we had moved onto dessert, there was a jazz duo (guitar and double bass). The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and friendly. The Menus were in english so we didn't have to struggle to decide which food we would eat. I floated back to the hotel on a warm haze of alcohol having eaten just enough, and drunk just enough. Even the children behaved! (mostly) I could do that every year....
